How can clients approve social media posts without a login?
With Schedulely you send the client an approval link, and they swipe right to approve each post or left to send it back with a note. They never create an account or remember a password, and any post sent back shows on your home screen with their note so you can fix it and send it again.
This page covers approval links in depth. Client logins, connect links and team invites are covered on the clients and approvals page.
Free during early access.

Approval links work without a login. Approvals are part of the Pro and Agency plans once plans start; during early access everything built is free.
How does a Schedulely approval link work?
An approval link is a private web page made for one client. The client opens it, sees the posts waiting for their decision and swipes through them: right to approve, left to send a post back with a note. There is nothing to install, no account to create and no password to remember.
The swipe is there for a reason. Many clients approve posts on a phone, between meetings, and a swipe is the quickest decision a phone allows. Each post is shown on its own, so the client looks at one piece of content at a time rather than scrolling a long document or a crowded calendar.
Sending a post back is just as quick. The client swipes left and writes a short note, such as asking for a different photo or a softer line about a price. That note travels with the post, so whoever fixes it sees exactly what the client asked for without searching through email.
Because the link needs no login, you can send it however your client prefers to talk: email, WhatsApp, Slack or a text. Keep each link private to the client it was made for, the same way you would treat a shared document link.
Why approve posts without a client login?
Most clients approve occasionally and do not want another account. A link with no login removes the usual blockers: forgotten passwords, invitations lost in spam and seats you would otherwise pay for. Approvals come back faster when the only thing a client has to do is open a link and swipe.
Approval friction costs agencies time. A client who has to reset a password or find an invitation email will often put the task off until the end of the week, and the content calendar slips with them.
An approval link avoids that. The client does not join your workspace or take up a seat; they simply open the posts waiting for them. You keep control of the calendar, the connected accounts and the rest of the client's content.
Some clients do want more. If a client wants to see and run their own account day to day, Schedulely also offers client logins, which show them only their own account. And when a new client needs to connect their social accounts, a connect link lets them sign in through each network's own page, so nobody shares a password.
For most clients, though, approval is the only job they need to do, and a link is the lightest way to ask for it.
What happens when a client sends a post back?
A post the client sends back appears on your Schedulely home screen with the client's note attached. You change the post, whether that is the caption, the media or the time, and send it to the client again. The note means nobody has to guess what the client wanted changed.
The home screen gathers what needs your attention: posts scheduled this week, the inbox, failed posts and posts sent back by clients. A returned post sits there until someone deals with it, so feedback does not sit unread in an email thread.
Good notes make fast fixes. It helps to tell clients at the start what a useful note looks like: say what is wrong and, if possible, what they would prefer. For example, use the blue product shot instead, or move this to Friday.
Activity history records who did what in the workspace, which helps when several people work on one client. If a client later asks why a post changed, you can see the trail.
When a round of fixes is done, send the client the posts again. Keeping each round small, a week of posts at a time, tends to get quicker answers than a whole month at once.
How do approval links fit into an agency week?
Approval links work best as one fixed step in a weekly routine: plan and write the posts, send one link per client, give them a deadline, fix what comes back, then let the calendar run. Schedulely's calendar shows a row per client in each client's own time zone, so the routine scales across clients.
A routine many agencies use looks like this:
- Monday. Plan the week. Bulk schedule lets you paste rows from a spreadsheet, with a Google Drive link for the media, and save them as drafts.
- Tuesday. Send each client their approval link with a clear deadline, such as Wednesday at 12:00.
- Wednesday. Fix the posts that came back and resend them.
- Thursday onwards. Publish, answer comments in the inbox and plan the next week.
The week calendar gives each client a row in their own time zone, which matters when you post for a client in Dubai at 09:00 their time while you sit in London. Posts go out to 14 networks, so one approval covers everything the client posts that week.
Reports download as CSV or PDF, covering activity and X costs, which helps when you bill a client for the X add on after early access.
Approval links, client logins or connect links: which do you need?
Use an approval link when the client only needs to approve or reject posts. Use a client login when the client wants to see and run their own account. Use a connect link when a client needs to connect their social accounts without sharing a password. Many agencies use all three at different stages.
The three tools solve different problems, and mixing them up creates extra work. A client who only signs off content does not need a login, and a client who runs their own posts every day will find an approval link too limited.
Start every new client with a connect link. They sign in through each network's own page, and their accounts appear in your workspace without anyone typing a password into a message.
Then decide how involved they want to be. Many clients are happy with an approval link each week. A few, often larger brands with their own marketing staff, want a client login so they can see their calendar and inbox. A client login shows only that client's own account.
Once plans start, client logins and approvals are part of Pro at $39 a month and Agency at $99 a month, and Agency includes unlimited team members.
| Tool | Client needs an account? | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Approval link | No | Approving posts or sending them back with a note |
| Connect link | No | Connecting their own social accounts without sharing a password |
| Client login | Yes, a login for their own account only | Clients who want to see and run their own account |
Who it's for, and who it isn't
A good fit if you
- Agencies and freelancers who need client sign off before posts go live
- Clients who approve on a phone and will not create another account
- Teams tired of collecting approvals and feedback across email threads
- Managers posting for clients in several time zones
Not the right fit if you
- Teams that need clients to see performance reports, because Schedulely has no Instagram analytics or insights
- Agencies that need white label client reports today, which are marked Soon
- Anyone who needs several internal approval stages before a client sees a post; Planable lists approval types by plan (Basic: none or optional approval; Pro: none, optional or required; Enterprise: multi level approval)
Questions people ask
Does the client need an account to approve posts?
No. An approval link works without logging in. The client opens the link, swipes right to approve a post or left to send it back with a note, and never creates an account or remembers a password. If a client wants to run their own account day to day, Schedulely also offers client logins.
How does a client send feedback on a post?
The client swipes the post to the left and writes a note, such as asking for a different photo or a change to the caption. The post then appears on your home screen with the note attached, so you can change it and send it to the client again without searching through email.
Can clients approve posts on their phone?
Yes. An approval link opens in the browser on any phone or computer, and the swipe to approve or send back is designed for a phone screen. There is nothing to install. The client only needs the link you send them by email, WhatsApp or any chat app.
Is the approval link different from a client login?
Yes. An approval link only lets the client approve posts or send them back with a note, with no login. A client login gives the client their own sign in to see and run only their own account. Most clients only need approval links; client logins suit brands with their own marketing staff.
Which plans include client approval links?
During early access everything built in Schedulely is free, including approval links, and nothing is charged. Once plans start, client logins and approvals are part of Pro at $39 a month for up to 10 channels and Agency at $99 a month for up to 30 channels. Plans are priced by channel, never by seat.
Can I see who approved or changed a post?
Schedulely keeps an activity history of who did what in the workspace, which helps when several teammates work on one client. Posts a client sends back appear on your home screen with the client's note, so the reason for each change stays with the post.
