Bluesky opens a moderation inbox in beta
A new moderation inbox gathers the reports you have filed, actions taken on your account or posts, appeals and your overall account standing in one place inside the app. It also reaches people on independent servers. Social teams can track reports on abusive replies and appeal labels on their own posts without waiting on email. Turn on Beta features in Settings to try it.

Profile Links arrive on Bluesky profiles
Bluesky profiles now have a Links section, added through Edit Profile, that shows links below your bio and sends visitors straight to the destination with no pop up or intermediate page. Links can be dragged to reorder, and payment links such as Patreon appear as green buttons. Accounts that rely on a link in bio page can now point traffic at a website or newsletter directly.

LinkedIn retires Marketing API version 202510
LinkedIn's versioned Marketing API, which includes the Posts and community management endpoints, sunset version 202510 on 15 October 2026, and its notice warns that version 202511 will be sunset on 16 November 2026. Integrations still calling a retired version stop working, so any tool that publishes to LinkedIn pages or reads post statistics must move to a supported monthly version.

Tumblr sorts comments by best first
Comments on Tumblr posts now default to a Best comments first order on all platforms, with oldest and newest still available from the dropdown, and spammy comments are pushed down. Tumblr also says badges will appear next to blog names in comments and DMs. Anyone answering comments should check the sort order so recent questions are not missed.

YouTube API exposes images and GIFs in comments
The YouTube Data API comments resource gained a snippet.imageUrl property, which returns the URL of an image or animated GIF attached to a comment. Google says the feature will be available to all users in November 2026. Comment inboxes built on the API can show the picture a viewer attached instead of only the text, which matters when replying in context.

Custom thumbnail uploads rise to 50MB
The maximum file size for thumbnails.set and playlistImages.insert in the YouTube Data API increased from 2MB to 50MB. Days earlier YouTube also documented higher resolution thumbnail sizes up to 4K for some videos. Teams uploading custom thumbnails through the API no longer need to compress artwork heavily to fit under the old 2MB ceiling.

TikTok adds voice, poll and photo comments
TikTok introduced voice comments of up to 60 seconds for accounts aged 18 and over, creator polls in comments with up to 5 options, photo carousel comments with up to 9 photos, and Live Photo comments. Polls and Live Photo comments are already global, while voice and carousel comments roll out over the following month. Comment moderation now covers audio and images, not just text.

Discord doubles the default upload limit to 20 MiB
Discord raised the default file upload limit from 10 MiB to 20 MiB, and the change covers users, bots, webhooks and interaction responses. Communities that post announcements through a webhook or bot can now attach larger images, short videos and documents without hitting the old cap, although files above 20 MiB still need a server boost or an external link.

X API sets video limits by the posting account
X now enforces media upload and post creation limits separately, based on the posting user's Premium or verified status rather than the developer plan. Standard accounts can post video up to 20 minutes and 8 GB, while Premium or verified accounts can post up to 125 minutes and 16 GB. Posts above the account's cap return a 403 error.

YouTube counts a view when playback begins
YouTube aligned public view counting across long form videos, Live and Shorts, so a view now counts once a video starts to play. The viewCount field descriptions for channels and videos were updated to match. Monetisation eligibility and most core performance metrics are unchanged, but public view totals on long form videos may now compare differently with earlier reports.

Instagram API drops media_url for protected video
The Instagram Platform now omits the media_url field for video with copyrighted or flagged audio, and for reels whose owners have turned off downloads. Requests still succeed and return the other fields. Tools that archive, repost or preview reels from the API should treat media_url as optional and fall back to the permalink when it is missing.

Facebook retires Page impression metrics
With Graph API v26.0, released on 29 July 2026, Meta's deprecation of many Page Insights metrics applies to every API version. These include page_impressions_unique, post_impressions_unique and the total_video_views metrics, which now return an error. Meta points to media view metrics such as page_media_view and post_media_view, so reach reports need rebuilding on the new figures.

Telegram bots gain Communities and ephemeral messages
Bot API 10.2 adds initial support for Communities, which link supergroups, channels and bots around a shared topic. It also introduces ephemeral messages that only one user and the bot can see, with methods to edit and delete them. Channel admins who use bots can now send private replies inside a group without cluttering the main conversation.

Business Profile API shows policy issues on review replies
The Business Profile API now returns PolicyViolation details with reviews, showing the policy status of review replies you submitted. In April Google also added ReviewReplyState, which shows the moderation status of each reply. Businesses answering reviews through the API can see the moderation and policy status of each reply and fix problems, rather than assuming it went live.

Instagram API can apply the AI info label
Setting the new is_ai_generated parameter to true when creating a media container applies Instagram's AI label at publish time, and the field can also be read on IG Media. The same update added a link_clicks metric for Stories, counting taps on link stickers, for apps using Facebook Login. Scheduled posts can now carry AI disclosure without a manual edit.

Mastodon 4.6 brings collections and profile edits
Mastodon 4.6 lets people build shareable collections of up to 25 profiles, shown under the Featured tab, with inclusion only for accounts that opt in to discovery. Profiles were redesigned and can be edited in place, with alt text for avatars and headers. Servers can also let institutions offer email newsletter subscriptions to their posts for anonymous visitors.

Instagram Audio API lets apps add music to reels
Apps using Facebook Login can now search for and retrieve audio, including original sounds and royalty free music from Meta's Sound Collection, and attach it to Reels through the API. A new media_audio_type field reports whether a video uses MUSIC or ORIGINAL_SOUND. Reels published from a third party tool no longer have to go out silent or with audio baked in.

YouTube moves uploads to their own quota bucket
The YouTube Data API began moving to granular quotas. videos.insert and search.list are now charged to separate buckets, while every other method stays in the existing one. On 3 June a new videos.batchGetStats method followed, costing 1 unit per call from its own 10,000 unit daily default. Heavy searching or analytics no longer eats into the quota needed to upload videos.

Telegram polls get media and single option votes
Bot API 10.0 lets poll questions, options and quiz explanations include media, adds members only and country restrictions, and lowers the minimum number of poll options from 2 to 1. It also adds live photos to media groups. Earlier, Bot API 9.6 in April added multiple correct quiz answers and raised automatic poll closing to 2628000 seconds, about 30 days.

Instagram API can like comments and tag paid partnerships
Apps can now like and unlike media and comments on behalf of a user through the new instagram_manage_engagement permission, though Stories and private accounts are excluded. The same release adds a Paid partnership label at publish time with up to 2 brand partners, plus saves, shares and reposts counts. Community managers can acknowledge comments with a like from their inbox.

X API reprices posting and drops likes and follows
From 20 April 2026, creating a post through POST /2/tweets costs $0.015, while posts containing a URL cost $0.20 and summoned replies stay at $0.01. Reads of your own data cost $0.001 per resource. Following, liking and quote posting through the API were removed from all self serve tiers, so link heavy scheduled posting costs considerably more than plain text.

Business Profile posts can now repeat on a schedule
The Business Profile API now supports recurring posts. Setting RecurrenceInfo when creating a LocalPost makes the update repeat on a schedule instead of being published once. Businesses that post the same weekly offer, opening hours reminder or event can set it up once rather than recreating it, though each recurring post still needs reviewing so details stay accurate.

Threads API switches GIFs from Tenor to GIPHY
The Threads API added support for publishing GIFs from GIPHY and announced that Tenor support would be sunset by 31 March 2026. Any workflow that attaches Tenor GIFs to scheduled Threads posts had to move to GIPHY IDs before that date, or those posts would fail to include the GIF. Check saved drafts and templates for old Tenor references.

X limits automated replies to summoned accounts
To curb LLM generated spam, replies posted through POST /2/tweets on self serve tiers are now allowed only when the original author has summoned the replying account by mentioning or quoting it. Extra limits also apply to programmatic mentions and quotes. Brands can still reply through the API to people who tag them, but not to posts that never mention them.

Threads API adds reply approvals
The Threads API now supports creating posts with reply approvals switched on and managing the pending replies they collect. Replies wait for the author to approve them before they appear publicly. Accounts that expect heated or spammy responses can publish with approvals from the start and then review, approve or ignore queued replies without opening the Threads app.

How this log is kept
An entry goes in only once the change appears on an official page from the network itself. Rumours, tests seen by a few accounts and reports that only appear in the press are left out until the network confirms them. Limits that matter for scheduling, such as caption length and video length, are also kept up to date on each network's scheduling page and in the free image and video size guide.
