How to schedule TikTok videos

Schedulely schedules TikTok videos, one video per post, and uploads them at your chosen time through TikTok's Direct Post API. Until TikTok finishes auditing the Schedulely app, every video publishes as private, so only the account owner can see it until they change its privacy in TikTok.

Photo posts are not supported, so TikTok in Schedulely is video only.

What does Schedulely publish to TikTok right now?

Schedulely publishes one video per TikTok post, with a caption, through TikTok's Direct Post method, which uploads the file from Schedulely's server at the scheduled time. Photo posts and Stories are not supported. And for now, every video goes up as private until TikTok completes its audit of the Schedulely app.

Direct Post means the video is published to the account, not left as a draft for someone to finish in the TikTok app. Captions can be up to 2,200 UTF 16 runes through the API that Schedulely uses.

TikTok's own API allows photo posts (limit: Up to 35 images), but publishing them requires a step Schedulely has not completed, so photo carousels are not available. If you plan a photo series, post it to Instagram or Threads from Schedulely and make it in TikTok by hand.

The same vertical video can go to TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and YouTube from one post in Schedulely. That is often the most useful part: you cut one clip, write the caption once, preview each network and schedule all of them together in the client's time zone, rather than uploading the same file four times.

Why do TikTok videos from Schedulely publish as private?

TikTok only lets an app publish public videos after it has passed TikTok's review. Until that audit of Schedulely is complete, TikTok restricts posts from the app to private, visible only to the account owner. Schedulely cannot override this, so every scheduled TikTok video currently publishes privately.

This is the most important thing to know before you plan TikTok in Schedulely, so here it is plainly. A video scheduled today will upload on time and appear on the account, but nobody except the account owner will see it. Followers will not get it in their feed and it will not reach the For You page.

To make one public, the account owner opens the video in the TikTok app and changes who can watch it. That works, but it is a manual step for every video, so it suits people who want their uploads ready and waiting rather than people who need hands off publishing.

When the audit is complete, the privacy you choose on the post will be used, and this page will be updated. Until then, treat TikTok in Schedulely as a way to stage videos, not as a fully automatic TikTok scheduler. If you need public TikTok posting today, use a tool that has already passed TikTok's audit.

How do you schedule a TikTok video with Schedulely, step by step?

Connect the TikTok account through TikTok's own sign in, start a new post, add one vertical video, write the caption, check the preview and choose a time. Schedulely uploads the video at that time. For now it publishes privately, so the account owner then makes it public in the TikTok app.

  • Connect the account. Schedulely opens TikTok's sign in page and asks only for permission to read basic profile details and publish videos. A client can connect their own account from a connect link, without sharing a password.
  • Add one video. From your computer, your phone, a Google Drive link or the client's library. TikTok posts take exactly one video, so a post with photos or two videos cannot include TikTok.
  • Write the caption. Put the hook in the first line, since people read it while the video plays.
  • Preview and pick a time. The time follows the client's time zone.
  • Make it public. After it posts, the owner opens the video in TikTok and changes its privacy.

If the upload fails, the post shows in Failed and 1 tap retries it. If the TikTok connection lapses, posts wait safely and go out after you reconnect.

When is the best time to post on TikTok?

The studies disagree more on TikTok than on any other network. Sprout Social favours weekday afternoons, Buffer found weekends and evenings strongest with afternoons weakest, Hootsuite names Thursday from 07:00 to 11:00, and Metricool sees the most views from 18:00 to 20:00. Test your own audience.

  • Sprout Social recommends Monday to Friday afternoons, such as Tuesday 14:00 to 18:00 and Wednesday 13:00 to 20:00.
  • Buffer, across 7.1 million posts, found Saturday the best day, then Monday and Sunday. Its top slots were Sunday at 09:00, Monday at 13:00 and Sunday at 13:00, with evenings from 18:00 to 23:00 strong and afternoons from 12:00 to 17:00 weakest.
  • Hootsuite, with Critical Truth, names Thursday from 07:00 to 11:00.
  • Metricool, looking at views on over 2.3 million posts, saw the heaviest viewing from 18:00 to 20:00, with 20:00 top on most days.

There is a practical catch while Schedulely's TikTok posts are private. The scheduled time only decides when the video uploads; the time it reaches followers is when the owner makes it public. So until the audit is done, use these windows for the moment you switch it to public.

What can't Schedulely do on TikTok yet?

Schedulely cannot publish public TikTok videos until TikTok's audit is complete, and it does not post photo carousels or Stories. TikTok comments are not in the inbox, which is Instagram only, and there are no TikTok analytics. Sounds, effects and text overlays have to be added before export or inside TikTok.

Here is everything that is missing on TikTok, in one place.

  • Public posting. Videos publish as private until TikTok finishes auditing the app.
  • Photo posts. Not supported.
  • Stories. Not supported.
  • More than one video per post. TikTok posts take exactly one video.
  • Comments and DMs. The Schedulely inbox works with Instagram only.
  • Analytics. No views or follower reports. Use TikTok's own analytics.
  • In app editing. TikTok sounds, effects and stickers are added in TikTok itself, so bake text and audio into the file before you upload it.

For a video that already has its audio and captions burned in, Schedulely saves the repeated upload across TikTok, Reels and YouTube. Judge it on that, and on the calendar, approvals and client time zones, rather than as hands off TikTok publishing for now. That may change once the audit is done.

Who it's for, and who it isn't

A good fit if you

  • Creators and brands who cut one vertical video for TikTok, Reels and YouTube
  • Agencies that want TikTok uploads on the same calendar as every other network
  • People happy to switch each video to public in TikTok while the audit is pending

Not the right fit if you

  • Anyone who needs TikTok videos to go public automatically today
  • Accounts that post TikTok photo carousels or Stories
  • Teams that want TikTok comments or analytics inside the scheduler

Questions people ask

Does Schedulely post TikTok videos automatically?

It uploads them automatically, but they publish as private for now. Until TikTok finishes auditing the Schedulely app, TikTok only allows the app to post private videos that just the account owner can see. The owner then opens each video in TikTok and changes its privacy to make it public.

Can I schedule TikTok videos for free?

Yes. Schedulely is free during early access, and TikTok video scheduling is included. Keep in mind that videos currently publish as private until TikTok's audit of the app is complete. When paid plans start, a TikTok account counts as one channel, and plans are priced by channel, never by seat.

Can Schedulely post TikTok photo carousels?

No. Schedulely posts one video per TikTok post and does not support photo posts. TikTok's API allows photo posts (limit: Up to 35 images), but they are not available in Schedulely. For a photo series, schedule it to Instagram or Threads from Schedulely and make the TikTok version in the app.

How long can a TikTok video be when scheduled through Schedulely?

TikTok's developer documentation gives this length limit: 3 min for all creators; some 5 or 10 min; API max 10 min, with files up to 4 GB. In practice, a vertical 9:16 clip is the safest choice, and the same clip can go to Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and YouTube Shorts from the same post in Schedulely.

When will Schedulely post public TikTok videos?

When TikTok completes its audit of the Schedulely app. Schedulely does not control that timeline, so it will not promise a date. Once the audit is done, the privacy you pick on the post will be used, and this page will be updated to say so. Until then, every TikTok video publishes as private.

Can I answer TikTok comments in Schedulely?

No. The Schedulely inbox, with its labels, saved replies and automations, works with Instagram only. TikTok comments and messages stay in the TikTok app. On TikTok, Schedulely's job is uploading videos on schedule alongside your other networks, on the same calendar.
