Limits come from Pinterest's product specs and are linked in the sources below.
What can Schedulely publish to Pinterest?
Schedulely publishes photo Pins to a Pinterest board you choose, with a title, a description and a link. You can attach one photo or up to 5 photos to a Pin. Video Pins are not supported yet, so a video added to a Pinterest post is flagged before it can be scheduled.
Pinterest works differently from feed networks. Each Pin is a bookmark that points somewhere, so the title, description and link do more work than they do on Instagram or Facebook. Schedulely gives you a Pin title field and a link field in the planner. If you leave the title empty, the first line of your caption becomes the title. If you leave the link empty, the first link in your caption is used.
Each connected Pinterest account in Schedulely is one board. You pick the board when you connect, so a brand with boards for recipes, home and gifts can connect each board and choose the right one per post. The caption becomes the Pin description, and Pinterest fetches the photos from Schedulely when the Pin goes out.
Pinterest lists these formats: Image Pin, video Pin, carousel Pin. Schedulely covers photo Pins today; video Pins need Pinterest's separate upload flow, which is not built yet.
What are Pinterest's limits for titles, descriptions and images?
Pinterest allows a Pin title of up to 100 characters (first 40 may show in feed) and a description of up to 800 characters. For images it recommends PNG/JPEG; 2:3 recommended (1000x1500). Schedulely checks the title and description against these limits in the planner, so a Pin is never cut short without you knowing.
The title is the most visible text on a Pin, but feeds often show only the start of it, so put the words people search for first. A good title names the thing plainly: a recipe name, a product type, a room style. The description has more room and is where you add context, sizes or the reason to click.
For images, Pinterest's guidance favours a vertical shape because Pins sit in a column grid and taller images take up more space. Files can be up to 20 MB desktop, 32 MB in app. Text on the image helps when the photo alone does not explain the Pin, for example a step count or a before and after.
Schedulely shows a warning in the composer when a title or description is over the limit, and it will not schedule a Pin without a photo. The preview for each network shows where one caption needs trimming for Pinterest.
| Item | Pinterest limit | In Schedulely |
|---|---|---|
| Pin title | 100 characters (first 40 may show in feed) | Own title field, or the first line of the caption |
| Description | 800 characters | The post caption, checked before scheduling |
| Image | PNG/JPEG; 2:3 recommended (1000x1500) | Photos from computer, phone, Google Drive or the library |
| Image file size | 20 MB desktop, 32 MB in app | Uploaded once, fetched by Pinterest at publish time |
| Video Pin length | 4 seconds to 15 minutes | Not supported yet |
How do you connect Pinterest and schedule a Pin in Schedulely?
Connect Pinterest from a client's accounts screen, sign in on Pinterest's own page, and pick the board. Then open the planner, add a photo, write the description, fill in the Pin title and link, choose a time and schedule it. The Pin appears in the week calendar until it goes out.
- Connect. Choose Pinterest, sign in on Pinterest's page and allow access. Nobody types a Pinterest password into Schedulely. A client can do this themselves from a connect link.
- Pick the board. Each board you want to post to is connected as its own account.
- Write the Pin. Add a photo from your computer, phone, a Google Drive link set to Anyone with the link, or the client's library. Fill in the title and link fields.
- Schedule. Pick a time in the client's time zone, schedule it or save it as a draft, or send an approval link so the client can approve it without logging in.
For a batch of seasonal Pins, bulk schedule lets you paste rows from a spreadsheet, one row per post, with a Drive link as the fourth column. If a Pin fails, it shows under Failed in the posts list and can be retried in 1 tap.
When is the best time to post on Pinterest?
Studies disagree, so treat them as a starting point. Sprout Social found weekdays strongest for Pinterest, and Hootsuite with Critical Truth pointed to Tuesday and Friday at 12:00. Both measure in the audience's local time, which is why Schedulely schedules in each client's own time zone.
Sprout Social's 2026 study, based on nearly 2 billion engagements across about 307,000 profiles, lists Monday to Friday as the best days for Pinterest, with windows such as Monday 10:00 to 12:00, Tuesday 10:00 to 13:00 and Wednesday 08:00 to 13:00. Hootsuite, working with Critical Truth on over 1 million posts, picked Tuesday and Friday at 12:00, with Monday and Wednesday at 10:00 and Sunday at 16:00 also strong.
Pinterest is a search and planning network, so timing matters less than on fast feeds. A Pin can keep getting found for months when its title and description match what people search for. Seasonal content is the exception: people plan ahead, so Pins for holidays, weddings or school terms do better when they go out weeks before the date.
A steady rhythm usually beats one big burst. Bulk scheduling a month of Pins in one sitting keeps that rhythm without daily effort.
What can't Schedulely do on Pinterest yet?
Schedulely does not publish video Pins, Idea style multi page Pins or Pinterest ads, and it does not show Pinterest analytics. While Pinterest reviews the Schedulely app, Pins published through it may be visible only to you until Pinterest grants Standard access.
Pinterest gives new apps Trial access first. In Trial, Pins created through the app can be seen only by the person who made them. Schedulely's Pinterest code is built for full publishing, and once Pinterest approves Standard access, Pins go out publicly with no change on your side. If you need public Pins today, check one test Pin on your profile before you plan a campaign around it.
Other gaps are plain. Videos are blocked in the composer for Pinterest because Pinterest uses a separate upload flow for them. There is no Pinterest analytics, no ad scheduling and no comment management, and the Schedulely inbox works with Instagram only.
If your Pinterest plan depends mostly on video Pins or detailed Pinterest analytics, a tool built around those will suit you better today. If you want photo Pins sitting in the same calendar as your other networks, with approvals and bulk scheduling, Schedulely covers that now.
Who it's for, and who it isn't
A good fit if you
- Online shops and bloggers who drive clicks from photo Pins to product pages and posts
- Agencies that run Pinterest boards next to Instagram and Facebook for the same clients
- Anyone who plans seasonal Pins weeks ahead and wants them in one calendar
- Teams that need a client to approve Pins before they go live
Not the right fit if you
- Creators whose Pinterest strategy is mostly video Pins
- Marketers who need Pinterest analytics or ad management in the same tool
- Anyone who needs public Pins guaranteed today while Pinterest's app review is pending
Questions people ask
Can I schedule Pinterest Pins for free?
Yes. Schedulely is free during early access, and that includes scheduling photo Pins to Pinterest boards. Paid plans start later and are priced by channel, where each connected board counts as one channel. You will be told well before anything is charged, and nothing is taken from a card during early access.
Can Schedulely schedule video Pins on Pinterest?
Not yet. Schedulely publishes photo Pins only, with one photo or up to 5 photos per Pin. Pinterest handles video through a separate upload flow that Schedulely has not built, so the composer flags a video on a Pinterest post before you can schedule it. Use Pinterest's own tools for video Pins for now.
How do I add a link to a scheduled Pin?
Fill in the link field when you write the Pin in Schedulely. If you leave it empty, Schedulely uses the first link it finds in your caption. The link is what people open when they tap the Pin, so point it at the exact product page, recipe or article rather than a homepage.
Can I post the same Pin to more than one board?
Each board is connected to Schedulely as its own account, so you can tick several boards for one post and the Pin is created on each. Pinterest tends to reward fresh Pins over exact repeats, so changing the title or image for each board is usually worth the extra minute.
Why can only I see the Pins Schedulely published?
Pinterest starts new apps on Trial access, where Pins made through the app are visible only to their creator. Until Pinterest grants Schedulely Standard access, that can apply to your Pins. Once Standard access is approved, Pins publish publicly. Check one test Pin on your profile before relying on it for a campaign.
What size should a Pinterest image be?
Pinterest recommends PNG/JPEG; 2:3 recommended (1000x1500), and image files can be up to 20 MB desktop, 32 MB in app. Vertical images take up more space in the Pinterest grid than square or wide ones. Schedulely uploads your photo once and Pinterest fetches it when the Pin is published, so you can add it from your computer, phone or a Google Drive link.
