How to schedule posts in a Telegram channel
Add the Schedulely bot to your Telegram channel as an admin that can post messages, connect the channel in Schedulely, then write the post and pick a time. Schedulely's bot publishes it in the channel at that time, as text, a photo or video with a caption, or an album.
Telegram posts sit in the same week calendar as Instagram and your other networks, in each client's own time zone.

What can Schedulely post in a Telegram channel?
Schedulely posts three kinds of Telegram message in a channel: a text post, a single photo or video with a caption, or an album of photos and videos with the caption on the first item. The post appears from the channel itself, exactly as if an admin had sent it in the app.
Telegram channels are one way: the channel posts and subscribers read, react and sometimes comment. That makes them a natural fit for scheduled announcements, product drops, daily updates and content series.
Schedulely picks the right kind of message from what you add. With no media, it sends a text message of up to 1 to 4,096 characters. With one photo or one video, it sends that file with your text as the caption. With 2 or more files, it sends an album; Telegram allows 2 to 10 photos/videos in an album, and your text appears as the caption on the first item.
Captions on media are shorter than text posts. Telegram allows 0 to 1,024 characters (Premium users 4,096), and a bot posts at the standard length, so Schedulely checks the caption against that when you add media. If your announcement is long, post it as text and send the photos as a separate post, or keep the caption short and link to the details.
How do you connect a Telegram channel to Schedulely?
In Telegram, add the Schedulely bot named on the connect screen to your channel as an administrator with Post messages switched on. Then in Schedulely, type the channel's @username, its t.me link, or its numeric id if the channel is private. Schedulely checks that the bot can post before saving the connection.
- Add the bot. Open your channel in Telegram, go to Administrators, add the Schedulely bot shown in the app, and leave Post messages on. It does not need any other rights.
- Type the channel. In Schedulely, add Telegram to the client and type @yourchannel, a link such as t.me/yourchannel, or the channel's id for a private channel.
- Write the post. Add text and media from your computer, phone, a Google Drive link set to Anyone with the link, or the client's library.
- Schedule. Pick a time in the client's time zone. Schedule it, keep it as a draft, or send an approval link.
Nobody shares a Telegram login. The channel owner stays in control: removing the bot or turning off its posting right stops Schedulely at once. If that happens, Schedulely marks the channel as needing a reconnect, and scheduled posts wait until the bot is back.
What are Telegram's limits for bot posts?
Through the Bot API, a text message can be 1 to 4,096 characters, a media caption 0 to 1,024 characters (Premium users 4,096), and an album 2 to 10 photos/videos. Photos can be up to 10 MB, and files sent by a bot up to 50 MB (2,000 MB with local Bot API server). Schedulely checks these before a post is scheduled.
Telegram's apps let people send much larger files than bots can. Scheduled posts go through a bot, so the bot limits are the ones that apply. In practice this matters most for video: a long, high quality video can easily pass the bot file limit. Compress it or trim it before uploading, or post very large videos from the Telegram app.
Schedulely warns you in the composer when a caption is too long for media, when an album has too many items, or when a file is too large for a bot. Fixing it then is easier than finding a failed post later.
If Telegram asks the bot to slow down, Schedulely waits and tries again. If Telegram has a temporary problem, the post is retried. If a post still fails, it shows under Failed with Telegram's reason and can be retried in 1 tap once the cause is fixed.
| Item | Telegram Bot API limit | In Schedulely |
|---|---|---|
| Text message | 1 to 4,096 characters | Sent when the post has no media |
| Media caption | 0 to 1,024 characters (Premium users 4,096) | Checked when media is added |
| Album | 2 to 10 photos/videos | Photos and videos mixed, caption on the first |
| Photo | 10 MB | Uploaded from Schedulely's server |
| Any file through a bot | 50 MB (2,000 MB with local Bot API server) | Larger files are flagged before scheduling |
How should you run a Telegram channel?
Treat a Telegram channel like a mailing list people chose to join. Posts usually reach subscribers as notifications, so send fewer, more useful posts, put the key line first, and post when your audience is awake. Consistent timing teaches subscribers when to expect you.
Unlike feed networks, a channel does not rank or hide posts. Every subscriber who has not muted the channel can get a notification, which is powerful and easy to overuse. A channel that posts too often gets muted or left.
- Lead with the point. Notifications and chat lists show the first line, so make it the news, not a greeting.
- Use albums for drops. A product launch or event recap reads better as one album than as several separate posts.
- Keep a rhythm. A morning update at 09:00 or a weekly roundup on Friday builds a habit. Scheduling in each audience's time zone keeps that steady.
- Make it shareable. Public channels have a t.me link per post, which Schedulely saves when it publishes, so you can share it elsewhere.
Telegram's own app can schedule a message for one channel. Schedulely is useful when the same announcement also goes to other networks or clients, with approval first.
What can't Schedulely do on Telegram yet?
Schedulely does not post polls, documents, audio, voice notes or buttons in Telegram, and it does not apply bold, italic or link formatting. It does not send silent posts, pin messages or edit them after posting, and it does not read comments or post in group chats. It publishes channel posts.
Text goes to Telegram as plain text, so formatting marks such as asterisks appear as typed rather than turning words bold. Links in the text are still clickable, because Telegram detects them on its own. If a post depends on formatting, buttons or a poll, send that one from the Telegram app.
Every post Schedulely publishes sends a normal notification. There is no option yet to post silently, which some channels use for late night or minor updates, so choose your times with that in mind.
Comments on channel posts, when a channel has a linked discussion group, stay in Telegram. The Schedulely inbox works with Instagram only. Schedulely also does not pin posts or change them once sent.
Telegram is connected through one shared Schedulely bot. If you need posts to come from your own bot with your own name, that is not supported. For scheduled channel announcements across many clients, Schedulely covers the job.
Who it's for, and who it isn't
A good fit if you
- Brands and creators who run a Telegram channel next to Instagram and other networks
- Communities, newsletters and media channels with a regular posting rhythm
- Agencies managing Telegram channels for clients who want to approve posts first
- Online shops announcing drops and offers to channel subscribers
Not the right fit if you
- Channels that rely on polls, buttons or formatted text in most posts
- Anyone who needs to post in Telegram group chats rather than channels
- Teams that want posts sent from their own custom bot
Questions people ask
How do I schedule posts in a Telegram channel?
Add the Schedulely bot to your channel as an admin with Post messages on, then connect the channel in Schedulely by typing its @username, t.me link or id. Write the post with text, a photo, a video or an album, pick a time, and Schedulely's bot posts it in the channel at that time.
Can Schedulely post to a private Telegram channel?
Yes. Add the Schedulely bot to the private channel as an admin that can post, then type the channel's numeric id in Schedulely instead of a username. Schedulely checks that the bot can post there before saving. Private channels do not have public post links, so none is saved after publishing.
Does the Schedulely bot need full admin rights?
No. The bot only needs Post messages. It does not need to add members, delete messages or change channel info. If you remove the bot or turn off its posting right, Schedulely stops posting straight away, marks the channel for reconnecting, and keeps scheduled posts waiting until the bot is back.
What is the caption limit for Telegram photos?
A caption on a Telegram photo or video can be 0 to 1,024 characters (Premium users 4,096), which is much shorter than a text message at 1 to 4,096 characters. Schedulely checks the caption when you add media. For a long announcement with a photo, keep the caption short or post the text and photo separately.
Can Schedulely post to Telegram groups?
Schedulely is built for Telegram channels, where the channel broadcasts to subscribers. Posting into group chats is not something Schedulely offers. If you run a channel with a linked discussion group, Schedulely posts in the channel and the comments stay in Telegram, since its inbox works with Instagram only.
Why use Schedulely instead of Telegram's own scheduled messages?
Telegram can schedule a message in one channel from its app. Schedulely helps when the same announcement goes to Telegram and other networks such as Instagram, Facebook or Discord, when you manage channels for several clients in their own time zones, or when a client needs to approve the post first through an approval link.
