Schedulely vs Hootsuite: which social media scheduler fits you?

Schedulely and Hootsuite both schedule posts across networks and both include a comments and DMs inbox. The main difference is the pricing model and scope: Schedulely charges per channel and is free during early access, while Hootsuite charges per user and adds analytics, comment to DM automation and a broader multi network inbox.

Hootsuite is the fuller platform for larger teams; Schedulely is the lighter choice for agencies and small teams focused on Instagram and client approvals.

Schedulely prices apply once early access ends; nothing is charged today. Hootsuite facts come from its own website, checked on 29 October 2026.

Is Schedulely cheaper than Hootsuite?

During early access Schedulely is free, so it costs less than any paid tool. After that, Schedulely charges per channel bundle and never per seat, while Hootsuite charges per user. The more people who need to log in, the more that difference grows in favour of channel pricing.

Hootsuite states its model as Per user per month, prices based on annual billing, excluding taxes.

Schedulely plans, once early access ends, are Starter at $9 a month for up to 3 channels, Pro at $39 for up to 10 and Agency at $99 for up to 30, with unlimited team members on Agency. Yearly billing gives 2 months free.

On a free plan, Hootsuite states: No. Its trial terms are: Free 14 day trial on Standard, Professional, Advanced; no credit card required. Schedulely needs no trial while nothing is charged. A fair comparison is to multiply the Hootsuite price by the number of people who need a seat, then compare with the Schedulely plan that covers your channel count. Clients who only approve posts never need a Schedulely seat, and freelancers you bring in for a busy month do not change the bill either.

Which networks do Schedulely and Hootsuite publish to?

Schedulely publishes to 14 networks, each with its own post types listed openly. Hootsuite names several networks on its publishing page but does not give a complete list there. Check that every network you post to is confirmed before choosing either tool, especially LinkedIn, YouTube and Pinterest.

Hootsuite names Instagram (feed, Reels, Stories), Facebook Pages, X, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky named on the publishing page. Schedulely publishes to Instagram, Facebook Pages, X, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads, Pinterest, Google Business, Bluesky, Mastodon, Tumblr, Telegram and Discord.

Schedulely is specific about what each network supports. Instagram takes feed photos, carousels of up to 10 mixed items, Reels and Stories, with several Story frames going up in order. Facebook Pages take text, photos or one video posted as a Reel. X takes posts and threads with media. YouTube takes one video per post, and vertical videos of up to 3 minutes become Shorts. Mastodon works on any server and Tumblr takes up to 10 photos.

The limits are listed too: no LinkedIn Company Pages or LinkedIn video yet, no video on Pinterest, Bluesky or Google Business, and TikTok posts are private until TikTok finishes auditing the app. If you need enterprise reach across every network with one vendor, Hootsuite is the safer bet; if Telegram or Discord matter, Schedulely covers them.

How do the inboxes and comment automation compare?

Hootsuite includes a social inbox on every plan covering comments and DMs across several networks, and it can send automated Instagram DMs when someone comments a keyword. Schedulely covers Instagram only, with labels, private replies sent by a person and keyword rules that reply in public, but no automatic comment to DM.

Hootsuite describes its inbox as Yes, every plan includes the social inbox; comments and DMs across Facebook, Instagram, X, WhatsApp, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads (Threads limited to comments). On comment automation it states Yes, automated Instagram DMs sent when 'a user comments a specific keyword on your post'. If you run giveaways or lead magnets where people comment a word to get a link by DM, Hootsuite does that and Schedulely does not today.

Schedulely's inbox is built for teams answering Instagram by hand. Comments, DMs and mentions sit in one list and are labelled Complaint, Lead, Question, Praise, Promotions or Scam and spam by word rules, not AI. You can reply in public, hide a comment or send one private reply per comment. Saved replies, triage mode and bulk actions keep a long queue moving.

Conversations can be assigned, noted, marked VIP or shared by round robin. Automations send a welcome reply to a first DM, an after hours reply, and run keyword rules that label, hide, reply in public, assign or notify. Alerts work per device with quiet hours.

Which works better for agencies and client approvals?

Hootsuite puts approval workflows on its Advanced plan for teams reviewing content together. Schedulely includes approval links on Pro and Agency, where clients swipe to approve or send back a post without logging in. Agencies whose clients rarely log in to anything may find the Schedulely approach simpler.

Hootsuite lists Advanced plan: 'Review and approve content with your team'; 'custom approval workflows'. Custom approval workflows suit larger organisations where legal, brand and regional teams all review posts in order.

Schedulely approvals are lighter. A client opens a link on their phone, swipes right to approve or left to send a post back with a note, and that is the whole process. Connect links let clients authorise their own accounts through each network's sign in page, so no password changes hands. Client logins let a client see and manage only their own account.

For agency operations, Schedulely gives every client a calendar row in their own time zone, keeps activity history, and exports activity and X cost reports as CSV or PDF. The posts list shows Upcoming, Drafts, Published and Failed, and a failed post can be retried in 1 tap. If posts are waiting when an account signs out, they go out after it reconnects.

Where is Hootsuite clearly stronger than Schedulely?

Hootsuite is stronger on analytics, comment to DM automation, AI tools, a multi network inbox and native mobile apps. It also offers enterprise plans. Schedulely has none of analytics, comment to DM or live app store apps today, so larger marketing teams with reporting needs will usually be better served by Hootsuite.

Hootsuite lists Yes, 'Analytics and reporting' from Standard; custom reports on Professional. Schedulely has no Instagram analytics or insights; it counts link in bio visits and taps and exports activity reports, which is not the same thing.

For AI, Hootsuite offers Yes, Wisdom AI assistant on every plan; 'Generate posts and images with AI'. Schedulely's AI tagging and reply drafts are marked Soon and are not live.

On mobile, Hootsuite lists iOS and Android. Schedulely runs on the web, on iPhone via Safari Add to Home Screen, and as apps for Android, Windows and Mac, with App Store and Google Play listings coming.

Hootsuite's bulk scheduler is described as Bulk scheduler, 'up to 350 posts at once'. Schedulely's bulk schedule takes rows pasted from a spreadsheet with a Drive link for media. Both have link in bio pages. If you need enterprise support, procurement paperwork or deep reporting, choose Hootsuite. If you need channel pricing, simple client approvals and an Instagram inbox your whole team can share, Schedulely fits.

Questions people ask

Is Schedulely a good Hootsuite alternative?

For small teams and agencies focused on scheduling, Instagram replies and client approvals, yes. Schedulely charges per channel rather than per user and is free during early access. It is not a full replacement if you depend on Hootsuite analytics, its multi network inbox or automatic comment to DM, which Schedulely does not offer today.

Is Schedulely cheaper than Hootsuite?

Right now, yes, because Schedulely is free during early access. After that, Schedulely costs $9, $39 or $99 a month by channel count, with no seat charges.

Does Hootsuite have a free plan?

Hootsuite states No for a free plan and offers Free 14 day trial on Standard, Professional, Advanced; no credit card required. Schedulely is free during early access with every built feature included and no card required, and account holders will be told well before any plan is charged. During early access you can use bulk scheduling, the inbox and approval links without entering a card.

Can Schedulely do comment to DM automation like Hootsuite?

No. Hootsuite states it can send automated Instagram DMs when someone comments a keyword. Schedulely does not do that today. In Schedulely a person sends a private reply to a comment, once per comment, and keyword rules can label, hide, reply in public, assign or notify.

Does Schedulely have analytics like Hootsuite?

No. Schedulely has no Instagram analytics or insights. It counts link in bio visits and taps without cookies and exports activity and X cost reports. Hootsuite includes analytics and reporting from its Standard plan, so if reporting is central to your job, Hootsuite is the better fit.

A small agency with several staff and clients who approve by phone will usually find Schedulely simpler, since it charges by channel rather than per user and approval links need no login. An agency that sells monthly performance reports or needs automatic DMs from comments will get more from Hootsuite.
